The price of agricultural products hasn’t been the only issue that raised concern among residents in Jordan. Qatayef, a type of middle-eastern pancake whose consumption skyrockets during the holy month, took the spotlight as the public expressed fears that its price will increase.

Despite requests for a price boost made by bakery owners, the price will remain at one Jordanian dinar per kilogram for the upcoming year.

After a meeting between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Bakery Owners Syndicate President Abdul Ilah Hamawi on Sunday, the latter explained that he was able to convince tens of bakery owners to retract their request.

Bread subsidies were lifted in Jordan and prices increased to 400 fils per kilogram since the beginning of February . A monetary support distributed to Jordanian families has replaced the subsidy and according to the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), over five million individuals have benefited from the support.
