Ramadan is predicted to begin on Wednesday, 16 May, and as is the case every year, business and school hours change during the holy month.

The Central Planning Committee at the Ministry of Education announced on Thursday that during Ramadan, school hours will not change dramatically.

The Committee said that school hours will remain almost the same, however, every class will be five minutes shorter, the five-minute break between each class will be cancelled, and the midday ten-minute break will also be cancelled.

Concerning the upcoming end of term school exams, the Committee said that the exams will begin on Thursday, 24 May, at 10 am for morning exams and 2 pm for evening exams.

Last week, state sources in the Cabinet said that the working hours for government employees in Jordan during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m..

On the first day of Ramadan, sunrise in Amman will be at 05:39 and sunset at 19:27, meaning Muslims observing the fast will refrain from drinking, eating and smoking for 13 hours, 48 minutes.

The daylight hours will only increase throughout the month as sunrise will shift to 05:30 and sunset to 19:44, bringing the time of fast in the final day of the month to 14 hours, 14 minutes.
