Nine people were injured at a funeral in Jerash on Sunday night after a man opened fire at the attendees because of a family feud, a security source has said.

While seven of the injured mourners suffered minor injuries, the other two are in a bad way. The source added that one of them had also been stabbed.

The shooting took place at the Gaza Refugee Camp in the northern city, where police officers were able to catch the shooter and seize his weapon.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

This shooting incident was an isolated one, however, Jordan suffers from another type of shooting, which often occurs at celebratory events, such as weddings and graduations.

Sadly, many people have died over the years because of this tradition, despite the government trying to tighten its grip on it by warning citizens of the dangers of shooting firearms into the air at those events.
