One Palestinian was killed and hundred others were injured on Friday during the third weekend of protests near the Gaza border fence.

The Gaza Ministry of Health identified the man as Islam Herzallah, 28, reporting he was shot in the abdominal area while demonstrating.

Thousands of Palestinians hit the streets on Friday to raise the Palestinian flags and burn the the flag of the occupying power as a form of resistance against the decade-long blockade imposed on Gaza and assertion of Palestinians’ right of return.

Hamas and other Palestinian factions called earlier last month for peaceful demonstrations near the borders which started on March 30, marking the Palestinian Land Day.

Since then, more than 30 Palestinians were killed, including a journalist, and hundreds were injured. Demonstrations are expected to continue until the remembrance of Nakba Day on May 15.
