The Jordanian Prime Ministry officially announced a holiday for Christian employees in the public sector and all ministries and public departments on the occasion of Palm Sunday on Sunday, April 1, 2018.

The circular that was issued by Prime Minister, Hani Mulki, also indicates that the Easter will be a two-day holiday the following Sunday and Monday April 8-9, 2018.

Palm Sunday and Easter have always been considered holidays in the kingdom, where Christians can take time off work in the public sector. The minority makes up around four percent of the population, which is around 250,000, according to an estimate released by the Orthodox Church in 2016.
