More than 100 deer at the Dibeen Forest Reserve in Jerash have been reported missing, a security source told Roya.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the animals were most likely stolen.

Officials at the Jerash Agriculture Directorate discovered the gap between the number of deer registered with them and the deer currently at the forest by coincidence, while patrolling the reserve.

Figures by the Directorate show that there were 350 deer, which were reduced to 176 and then again to 162 in a short period of time. Furthermore, the Directorate said the missing deer are worth up to JD 50,000.

The deer, which were given as a gift from Australia to Jordan, were flown in to Jordan at the beginning of the 21st century.
