Thirty-six extremists and three Egyptian soldiers were killed in the Sinai Peninsula during five days of military operations against ISIS, Al Arabiya English reported on Monday, citing the Egyptian military.

Over the past five days, 345 extremists were also arrested by Egyptian soldiers and police.

In November, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi ordered the army to secure Sinai within a three-month period, before they officially launched an offensive against ISIS on 9 February.

November witnessed the deadliest attack to take place in Sinai, where around 30 armed extremists attacked Al Rawdah Mosque, resulting in the death of more than 300 people and the injury of more than 125 others.
