You might have noticed that some parts of Amman have suddenly gotten brighter. That’s because the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has installed 50,000 new LED light poles in the Zahran District, Tila' al 'Ali, Wadi Al Seer, New Badr and Khirbet al Souq.

In an effort to save energy (and money), GAM is looking to light up its buildings and streets across the city by using more LED light bulbs in place of incandescent light bulbs, which will cut down their electricity bill by 60%.

GAM is working side by side with the Jordan Electric Power Company (JEPCO) to replace 119,000 units of lighting with LED light bulbs. Those units are placed in different parts of Amman, including the internal and external streets within the vicinity of the GAM building and other buildings affiliated with it.
