Jordanian Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and President of the Petra National Trust has won the Arab Heritage Personal Award for 2018 on Saturday.

She was announced the winner at the Berlin International Tourism Fair where Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili named the winners of the 10th Oscar Awards for Tourism Media.

Princess Dana is the first woman and Jordanian to receive the award. She is the wife of Prince Firas bin Raad and was named a UNESCO Goodwill ambassador in June 2017 by the UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova. Her advocacy for the cause of cultural heritage preservation and awareness resulted in their inclusion in two World Tourism Organization declarations.

Another Jordanian also received an award. Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Taleb Rifai was named Tourism Personality of the Year.

The Arab Heritage Personal Award is the most prominent of all awards at the 10th edition of the Arab Tourism Media Oscar awards for this year. Around 187 figures from 14 Arab countries competed for awards where the winners were determined by 1.5 million votes.
