Five Palestinian youths were physically assaulted by Israeli forces on Friday in the old town of Hebron in the southern region of the West Bank.

The youths aged between 14 and 21 were severely beaten and bruised all over their face and body by soldiers. Three of them are siblings, Wafa news agency reported.

While no reason was given for the assault, it is common for Israeli soldiers and settlers to attack Palestinian civilians in Hebron under the auspices of the military.

In Hebron, around 700 Jewish Israelis live in settlements in the heart of the city, where they are guarded by thousands of Israeli police officers and soldiers. On the other hand, around 37,000 Palestinians live in the same area and endure dozens of military checkpoints and attacks by Israeli forces and settlers.
Palestinians are facing organised and ongoing state violence on a daily basis in several parts of the West Bank.
