Greater Irbid Municipality carried out an extensive campaign targeting unlicensed street stalls and vendors on the main road connecting Irbid-Husn-Amman. The campaign is a response to several traffic-related complaints received by Greater Irbid Municipality caused by street vendors in the streets and sidewalks.

Street vendors wishing to sell from stalls are required to obtain permits from the Ministry of Interior and the Municipality. It is not uncommon for many of them to set up their stall without meeting standards set by the authorities.

A number of Municipality officials were assaulted while on official duty implementing the campaign. According to a Roya reporter in Irbid, security services have arrested suspects and they will face legal charges.
