The Queen Rania Al Abdullah park has officially closed its doors to the public for renovation until June, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced on Monday.

Located in Al Quwaismeh, GAM said that the park is visited by 5,000-6,000 people a day.

When the park is reopened, visitors should expect to see refurbished buildings and play areas, raised park walls and revamped family areas, according to the Park’s Manager Ghaidaa Al Hadid.

In addition, a second five-a-side football pitch will be built, while public toilets will be refurbished to improve their quality and make them more accessible to the elderly and disabled people.

But don’t fret, there are 140 public parks in the capital alone, which are perfect for picnics, playing sports or just relaxing.
