Demonstrations in Jordan over prices raising

Jordanians on Friday held demonstrations in different cities around the kingdom, calling on the government to reconsider the decision of raising prices of basic elements.

The participants waved signs and chanted slogans calling for finding alternatives for raising the prices.

Citizens carried out a march in front of the Al-Husseini mosque in the old city of Amman, and stood in front of the Trade Union Complex calling the authorities to go back in its decision.

Demonstrations were also held earlier on Thursday for the same demands. The demonstrations took place in front of the Parliament in Amman, and in another cities including Al-Salt and Irbid.

In the same context, Jordanian security have banned a demonstration was scheduled yesterday near the fourth circle.

The Jordanian government has raised the prices of bread, fuel, cigarettes, and other commodities in January as part of its reform plan.
