A twenty-year-old man set himself on fire in Ibrid, northern Jordan on Thursday, according to a security source.

The source said that the injured was transferred to Princess Basma Hospital. His medical state is critical he added.

An investigation is currently ongoing have initially revealed that family issues led the man to burn himself alive.

The year 2016 has witnessed the highest number of suicides in Jordan with an increased number of suicide rates among young people.
