A research conducted by Hacettepe University’s Migration and Politics Research Center read that the number of Syrians residing in Turkey will exceed five million within ten years, Hurriyet Daily News reported citing Birgun.

According to the study titled “A Framework for Achieving Social Cohesion with Syrians in Turkey,” Syrians in Turkey currently represent 4.5% of the population.

Meanwhile, around 306 Syrian babies are born in Turkey everyday, the study documented.

More than 290,000 Syrian babies were born in Turkey in 2017, Hurriyet reported according to data from the Interior Ministry’s General Directorate of Migration Administration.

However, refugees in Turkey have been coming from many countries over the last six years rather than just from Syria, Professor Murat Erdogan, who headed the research said.

According to Erdogan, around 1,500 are officially registered in Turkey on daily basis.
