The Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry published on Tuesday a tender for the position of an Israeli Ambassador to Jordan, to be filled immediately, Ynet News reported.

The Ambassador will be chosen from the ministry’s current employees.

This comes as part of the agreement reached between Jordan and Israel, in which Jordan agreed to reopen the Israeli Embassy, however; under a condition to replace Einat Shlain, the former ambassador who was in office at the time of the embassy’s incident.

Earlier on Thursday, the Jordanian government announced it accepted Israel’s apology for the embassy’s incident, in which two Jordanians were killed by an Israeli security guard in July, and another incident when a Jordanian Judge was shot dead by the Israeli military at the Allenby Bridge border crossing in March 2014.

The government said it will be carrying out and following up the necessary legal procedures in regards to the embassy incident, while it will compensate the families of martyrs Mohammed Al- Jawawdeh and Dr. Bashar Al-Hamarneh.

An official memorandum from the Israeli Foreign Ministry expressed their government's deep regret regarding the incident that happened in July 2017, which resulted in the death of two Jordanian citizens, and over the incident of the Jordanian Judge Zu'aitar.

The Israeli government promised to provide compensation to the families of the three martyrs, the Minister of Media Affairs, Mohammad Al Momani said.

Families of the martyrs also accepted the Israeli government's apology and their compensation, he added.

Relations between Jordan and Israel have been strained after an Israeli security guard shot dead a Jordanian who reportedly attacked him with a screwdriver at the Israeli embassy compound in Amman in July 2017.

The guard also shot another Jordanian at the scene, and the man later died in hospital. The embassy’s crew returned to Tel Aviv following the incident.
