Twenty-one Palestinians were detained in overnight raids in the West Bank on Wednesday, Anadolu reported citing a local Palestinian NGO.

In the city of Bethlehem, eight Palestinians were arrested in raids on their homes, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society.

Meanwhile, eight others were arrested in the cities of Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus and Jenin, the NGO said, adding that five minors were detained in raids on their homes in East Jerusalem.

For it’s part, the Israeli army said that the detainees were arrested over suspicions of “involvement in terrorist activities.”

170 search and arrest operations were carried out in the West Bank between December 19 and January 1st, according to UN documentations.

An average of 85 searches and detentions take place weekly, according to UN documentation.
