Jordanian lawmakers signed a proposal suggesting to form a joint Palestinian-Jordanian fact-finding commission to investigate the selling of Christian Orthodox land in Jerusalem and Palestine to Israeli institutions.

Roya has got a copy of the proposal, which asked to dig deeper into what is happening to the Christian lands, “due to the importance of saving Jerusalem and the holy sites there, and enhancing the Jordanian guardianship on the Islamic and Christian holy sites.”

Earlier in June, Israeli financial news site Calcalist revealed that the Greek Orthodox Church had secretly sold more than 100 acres of prime West Jerusalem land to Israeli institutions and companies for a mere $10 million.

Since then, calls for the removal of Patriarch Theophilos III and other church leaders accused of selling property to Israeli settlers have escalated.
