The Palestinian Presidency announced on Thursday that statements by member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) do not represent the official Palestinian position.

"Such statements represent the personal position of Majdalani and does not express in any way the position of the Palestinian leadership and President Mahmoud Abbas, and are neither based on information from official Palestinian sources,” the statement said.

"President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership hold all respect and appreciation for the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and his majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.”

As they “support the Palestinian people, their just cause and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital."

Earlier last week, Majdalani confirmed that US proposal for the peace process in the Middle East, known as “Deal of the Century”, was conveyed to the Palestinian part through Saudi Arabia.

The deal is about finding an end to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an alliance against Iran in the region, of which Israel will be a part.

On Wednesday, Majdalani told the Voice of Palestine radio that the political committee of the PLO discussed in its meeting in Ramallah the possibility of suspending recognition of Israel.

“The Palestinian Authority was created to lead the people from occupation to independence and not to become an agent of the occupation. It is a tool for achieving the Palestinian state,” he said.

“The Palestinians cannot remain the only party adhering to the signed agreements while Israel does not abide by them and always violate their terms.”

He also said that they will reject the US Jerusalem’s decision, considering the US as having lost its eligibility to oversee the political process, and therefore the previous political path sponsored by Washington for years was over.

It will give the Palestinians the right to search for an alternative process based on the implementation of United Nations resolutions through convening an international conference under UN auspices.

In addition to this, the PLO Secretary-General, Saeb Erekat, sounded the alarm once more time, that Israel runs the risk of no longer being “recognized” by the Palestine Liberation Organization, in accordance with the oft-violated but internationally-recognized Oslo Accords, unless Trump rescind his decision.
