The Israeli Civil Administration, has approved Wednesday, the establishment of hundreds of new settlement units across the West Bank.

Over 200 settlement units were approved to be built in Oranit settlement alone, by the Supreme Planning Council, a secondary settlement committee, Haaretz reported.

In addition to that, the committee approved the establishment of other units in Ariel and Alfei Menashe settlements.

Earlier last year, about 3,000 settlement units were approved to be established, but only ten have been built.

Israeli officials have called for converting the area of Havat Gilad, into an official settlement. This happened after a settler was shot dead, in southern Nablus, in the West Bank.

Israeli settling in the West Bank has always been a controversial issue as it is illegal, according to international law, and also opposed by the Palestinian Authority and many members of the international community.
