If you’re looking to work in the UAE, starting next month, there is one extra document that you will need to provide in order to obtain a work visa.

Starting 4 February, 2018, jobseekers will need to present a "Good Conduct and Behaviour Certificate," according to the Emirates News Agency.

The decision was approved by the UAE’s Coordination Committee on Monday, reported StepFEED.

The document sets to prove that the expat has no criminal record to their name, in the aim of creating "a safer and more sustainable society."

"Making the UAE one of the safest countries in the world is the government's main aim," the committee explained.

The certificate must be issued in the expat’s country of origin or a country they have been residing in for at least five years.

The document should then be “certified by the UAE’s missions abroad or through the attestation centre of the customer happiness centres of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation," the Emirates News Agency added.

Travellers entering the UAE on a tourist visa will not be required to provide the same document.
