An earthquake of 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the province of Fares, southern Iran on Sunday.

The event occurred at the depth of 18 kilometers.

No casualties were yet reported.

Earlier last week, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Iran, and was felt in the provinces of Alborz and Tehran.

Another earthquake of 5.2 magnitude was recorded in December, resulting in the cut off of power lines in some Tehran towns, while communication and internet systems went down.

In November, an earthquake of 7.3 magnitude hit the same region, which resulted in the death of at least 530, while earlier this month.
