King Abdullah sends his condolences to Egyptian President over church attack

King Abdullah on Friday sent his condolences to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi over the attack on the Church of St. Menas in Helwan, south of Cairo, which left nine dead and others injured.

He expressed his strong condemnation of the “terrorist act,” stressing Jordan's full solidarity with Egypt and backing it in confronting the threat of terrorism.

Spokesperson of the Jordanian government, Mohammad Momani, also condemned the attack, which he described as a "criminal act".

Al-Momani said that these holy places should not be targeted for any reason or by anyone.

Earlier on Friday nine Egyptians were killed and others injured in a shooting attack. The attacker was killed on the spot, while another was caught later after attempting to escape
