Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that the main part of the battle against ISIS in Syria has ended according to Reuters. 

"The main task in Syria now is to destroy Al Nusra front," Lavrov said to the Russian News Agency.

Lavrov's remarks came a day after the Minister of Defense Sergei Schweigau said Russia had begun to establish a permanent military presence in its naval and air bases in Syria, this came after the Russian parliament ratified an agreement with Damascus to bolster Russia's presence there.
