An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale, hit Iran late on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one and injured around 75, according to Iran Front Page (IFP).

The mild earthquake was felt in the provinces of Alborz and Tehran along with surrounding cities.

The event occurred at the depth of 12 kilometers.

The majority of people were wounded while trying to escape buildings.

A 58-year-old man has died of heart attack in Karaj, and 75 people have been wounded so far. According to emergency officials, 22 of them have been hospitalized.

The government shut down all schools in the cities of Shahriar, Malard, and Alborz province, IFP reported.

The quake came after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake has hit the same region last week.

In November, an earthquake of 7.3 magnitude hit the same region, which resulted in the death of at least 530, while earlier this month.
