Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulki said on Saturday that Jordanians have stood together in solidarity with Jerusalem in a display of unity "in which they proved they are the pulse of this nation and a source of its pride".

"Jordanians have proved throughout history that they confront any attempt targeting their country, and that, together with their Arab brethren, they uphold their Arab identity and national fundamentals", he said during a visit to the Karak Governorate, where he met with members of its local Council.

He praised the Jordanians' stance supporting the rights of the Palestinians, calling for an end to the occupation and the setting up of an independent Palestinian state on national Palestinian soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Since Trump’s announcement, protests are also taking place across Jordan. Thousands took to the streets in downtown Amman after Friday prayers, while others gathered outside the U.S. embassy.

A number of Jordanian officials, political figure and parties and members of workers unions also took part in the mass rallies, with similar protests held in other governorates, including Karak, Madaba, Irbid, Ma'an and Zarqa.
