A number of Jordanian MPs gathered outside the US Embassy on Wednesday afternoon, in protest of US President Donald Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and subsequently recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

This comes after earlier today, MP Yahya Al Saud, the Head of the the Palestinian Parliamentary Committee, called for a protest outside the US Embassy in Amman, to express Jordanians’ rejection of Trump’s decision and to warn of its potential consequences.

Al Saud’s suggestion was made during an emergency meeting held this morning, where several members of Parliament signed two parliamentary memorandums, calling for freezing the Jordanian-Israeli Peace Treaty (Wadi Araba Treaty), and for the withdrawal of the Jordanian Ambassador in Tel Aviv.
Trump is expected to make his announcement today at 6pm GMT.
