A group of extremist Israeli settlers stormed into Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard on Wednesday morning, chanting “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.”

The extremists broke into the courtyard through the Mughrabi Gate (Gates of the Temple Mount), under the protection of Israeli police, carrying banners that read: “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel,” Director General of Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs in Jerusalem told Petra news agency.

Al-Aqsa Mosque guards tried to stop the settlers by yelling back “Allahu Akbar,” while gesturing at them in anger.

US President Donald Trump will officially declare later today Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, while outlining his plans for moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.
