Egyptian legendary actress and singer Shadia was announced dead late on Tuesday night. She was 86-years-old.

The film star had suffered a massive stroke and fell into a coma shortly before her death.

Fatimah Shaker, better known by her stage name Shadia, was known for her significant roles in cinema, which she portrayed in utter elegance and beauty.

Shadia started her acting career in 1947, introducing more than 112 films to the big screen, in addition to radio shows and drama plays, before quitting in 1986.

The late starlet was known for her roles in lighthearted Egyptian comedy plays and films, especially in the period between the 1950s and 1960s.

Some of her most prominent films include El-Zouga 13, Al-Liss W Al Kilab, and Meraty Modir Aam.

Shadia’s other talent was singing: some of her best-known songs are Wehyat Enek w Fadaha Enya and Ya Habibty ya Masr, among many others.
