This Thursday, 30 November, will be an official holiday in Jordan, as Muslims mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad - the founder of Islam.

Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki announced last week Sunday that all ministries and governmental institutions will not have to work on the mentioned date.

Meanwhile, the private sector can choose between giving their employees the day off or treating it as a normal working day.

Prophet Muhammad was born in the year 570 A.D. in Mecca, in the Arabian Peninsula, part of modern day Saudi Arabia.
