The 11th annual Amman Security Colloquium launched today in participation with several countries.

The seminar saw experts warning of ISIS’ return to Jordan through independent sleeper cells, and of the possibility of an increase in the terrorist group’s attacks in the region.

They also discussed ISIS’ use of the internet to recruit youth and to fund its activities, saying that the coming months will bring new challenges to the Arab world.

The speakers at the conference said that the MENA region suffers the highest number of crises and conflicts in the world, and that Arabs and Muslims are the main targets of terrorism in the area.

The speakers stressed that the solution to these conflicts is becoming increasingly dependent on counter-terrorism, saying, “security is an important prerequisite to achieving democracy in societies, and to protect human rights.”

Meanwhile, Musa Maaytah, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, said that the the recent developments in the region could perpetuate crises in the area, as well as increase the risk of the appearance of more terrorist groups.
