French Ministry of foreign affairs called upon the Israeli authorities to allow French lawmakers in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Israeli authorities have banned earlier French and European lawmakers coming to support the Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti, and the rest of the Palestinian prisoners inside the Israeli jails.

In a press conference, spokesperson of the French Foreign Ministry said that she “was informed” about the objections from Tel Aviv.

“Generally, we want all the French lawmakers to reach the people they want to meet, so they can do their jobs, to look and to know things.

“We are paying close attention to this matter with respect to Israel as with respect to all countries that French elected officials visit,” she added.

Israeli authorities earlier banned some of the European lawmakers from entering the occupied Palestinian territories due to their activism with the BDS movement.

Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs and internal security Gilad Irdan said, “We are not going to allow those who call for our boycott in; specially, those who want to visit Barghouti and support him.”
