Almost everything you’re using right now was made in China, and that’s something Jordan is looking to change.

The promotional campaign for “Made in Jordan” was launched for the fifth year on Tuesday, in a bid to promote local industries and revive the country’s economy.

Faysal Al Fayez, Head of the Senate of Jordan, said this morning that paying attention to local industries is critical, adding that we must provide the “right environment for their advancement and prosperity.”

During the campaign’s launch at the Amman Chamber of Industry, Fayez said that it is the ministries and governmental institutions’ duty to give priority to locally-produced goods by supporting the entities that produce them.

He further encouraged local and foreign investors to establish new businesses in the Kingdom.

Fayez has big faith in Jordanian products, as he pointed out that they are of high quality and compete successfully in international markets across 130 countries.

Local industries are responsible for the employment of around 250,000 workers, who provide for more than one million people. Those employees receive a total of one billion US Dollars a year in salaries and compensation.

“Made in Jordan” was launched in 2013 to strengthen Jordanians’ faith in local products.
