While people are welcoming November by getting prepared for winter, others are getting ready to stop shaving or grooming their hair for the rest of the month, as part of the “No Shave November” campaign, which aims at getting the conversation going about cancer in men.

“The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free,” the No-Shave November Organization said in a statement.

The initiative is funded by many organizations worldwide to help achieve the mission’s goals, which include raising funds to support cancer prevention, education and research.

“Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle,” the organization added.

No-Shave November is a non-profit organization founded on Facebook in 2009 with under 50 participants. Today, it is followed by thousands of people worldwide.
