The Head of Hamas's Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, has accused the Israeli occupation of being responsible for the failed assassination attempt of the Head of Hamas’s Security Services, Tawfiq Abu Naim. 

Abu Naim had survived the assassination attempt in Gaza earlier on Friday, according to the Jordanian News Agency Petra.

“Whoever is behind this is the Israeli occupation and its supporters,” said Haniyeh in a press conference held at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

“This phase will only strengthen us, and whoever thinks that these crimes will stop us from resisting is mistaken,” he carried on saying.

Haniyeh stressed that his party will continue to go down the reconciliation path and end the political rift between his party and Fatah.

He further called upon President Mahmoud Abbas to speed up the process of implementing the Palestinian reconciliation “to stand in the face of any party that wants to make it fail.”
