Jordan has welcomed the liberation of Raqqa, Syria, and the collapse of ISIS on Sunday.

Minister of State for Media Affairs, Mohammad al-Momani, said that Jordan will continue in its active role in the international coalition against ISIS, stressing the fact that the military victory in Syria should be followed by ideological and security measures.

Al-Momani added that the victory should be followed by a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria, to guarantee the defeat of terrorist organisations in Syria.

Jordan is part of the US-led coalition against ISIS and has conducted airstrikes against the several ISIS strongholds in Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces declared victory in Raqqa last week after a four-month battle to retake the city from IS, which had ruled it for three years.
