The government has no intentions in raising taxes on commodities, especially sugar, rice, milk and beans, according Khalil Haj Tawfiq, President of the Foodstuff Traders Associations.

Haj Tawfiq, who spoke to a government official, reported that taxes will only be implemented on canned and processed food.

Tawfiq told Roya that he demanded the Prime Minister or the Minister of Industry and Trade publically announce the decision, to ensure commitment to the public.
