Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers while they harvested olives in the village of Kufr Qalil, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in Nablus area, told Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli settlers from the illegal Brakha settlement attacked farmers as they picked olives near the village.

According to Daghlas, attacks by settlers against Palestinians have increase since the beginning of the olive harvest season this month.

Such attacks are not uncommon and pose a great challenge to Palestinian farmers. Settlers are known to uproot trees, burn land and obstruct olive harvesting operations.

Israeli forces are also known to impose several restrictions on Palestinians during olive harvest season.

Earlier this month, Israeli forces forced farmers from Azoun village to return home when they went to harvest olives from their lands near the Ma’ale Shomron settlement, Palestine News Network reported.
