2500 Syrian refugees returned to Syria from Jordan this past August, according to the Syrian Tribal Council in Jordan.

The head of the Council, Ibrahim Al Hariri, told Roya that the numbers of returning Syrian refugees has increased, and that the final tally has yet to be counted.

Al Hariri said that the increase in the numbers of returning refugees came as a result of the agreement Jordan, Russia and the United States brokered in establishing demilitarised zones in South Syria.

Hariri said that these Syrians left the Kingdom voluntarily, and were not pressured to leave, adding that there is an office in Al Zaatari camp that processes applications for returning refugees.

Approval for these applications is instant, according to Hariri, and the applicants will receive a date to return to Syria within days, without any restrictions.

Al Hariri said that communication with the returning refugees has not ceased, and that some of them have expressed regret in leaving the refugee camp to return to Syria, as a result of violence in South Syria, and not being able to return to Jordan.

He said that 30% of the refugees who have returned to Syria were from Al Zaatari, while the remaining 70% were from different parts of the Kingdom.
