Single-digit, double-digit and triple-digit number plates are going to cost Jordan’s affluent car owners a little more this year.

Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki and his cabinet on Wednesday amended the pricing of small-digit number plates for the year 2017.

Amended prices

Single-digit registration plates will sell at the starting price of 30,000 JOD ($42,000).

Double-digit registration plates will sell at the starting price of 20,000 JOD ($28,000).

Unique triple-digit registration plates will sell at the starting price of 10,000 JOD ($14,000).

Unique four-digit registration plates will sell at the starting price of 6,000 JOD ($8,400).

Unique five-digit registration plates will sell at the starting price of 5,000 JOD ($7,000).

The new decision was made in a bid to put a stop to the illegal selling of new and uncirculated single-digit and double-digit number plates, issued by the Drivers and Vehicle License Department, at auctions.

According to the law, unique number plates must be sold at auctions organized and supervised by representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Audit Bureau and the Public Security Directorate.

Here are some of the most envy-inducing (for some) number plates in the Kingdom.
