Bryan Wilpitz, a resident of Texas, paid tribute to Palestine in a video recorded in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, that hit the US state from 17 August until 2 September.

While reflecting upon the hurricane’s “devastation” against a background of people cleaning up the debris, he found the book The General’s Son: An Israeli’s Journey to Palestine by Miko Peled, and began an impassioned speech about Palestine, highlighting the struggle of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation.

“Even though in the midst of the storm we can recover and rebuild, for my brothers and sisters in Palestine, this is not something they can just rebuild, it’s a lifelong going thing. Until we have an end to the Occupation in Palestine, my brothers and sisters there will never be able to fully rebuild, and they go through this devastation on a daily basis.”

“I just want y’all Palestinians to know that I was thinking about y’all. Free Palestine.”
