The Minister of Transport Jameel Mujahed on Tuesday criticised the decreasing hygiene levels at Amman’s Queen Alia Airport.

The criticism came after Mujahed inspected the airport’s health and safety procedures late on Tuesday, saying that the government will not accept the airport’s low hygiene standard.

Mujahed said that the cleanliness of the airport and the services provided to passengers will reflect on Jordan in a positive light.

Following the inspection, Mujahed stressed that health and safety go hand in hand when it comes to airports and aviation.

The aviation sector, both civil and cargo, is of great importance to the country’s economy, which makes it essential to follow up on what has been already achieved and to contribute to the development of this sector.

On the other hand, Mujahed insisted on providing services and facilities to international investors including shortening waiting times.

Recent developments at the airport included updating baggage delivery and inspection systems.

Other developments will entail the second phase of expanding the airport to accommodate the increasing number of passengers to 12 million a year.
