A team of two Jordanian engineers, Farah Salah and Khalid Sharif, won first place in the fifth annual NASA Europa Challenge 2017 held in Helsinki today.

The pair faced off with 21 other teams from around the world, and ended up tying for first place with the American team and their entry in the competition, AgroSphere, a web application that visualizes the effects of climate change on agriculture.

The application the Jordanian team designed, World Weather, is a 4d interactive web browser of the world, with satellite-based and time-aware weather data, providing the user with accurate information on cities and terrains around the world.

The Jordanian team expressed their gratitude to Crown Prince Hussein for his support of Jordanian youth, and for enabling them to join NASA workshops and training courses.

“Through the research and projects presented in this competition, we help in improving the quality and the advancement of applications which serve the international community,” the two Jordanians said.
