Turkish authorities are treating the incident as a 'terror attack', after a bus carrying prison guards was hit with an explosion in the coast city of Izmir, according to Reuters.

“We are getting information from police sources and they are focusing on the possibility of a terrorist attack,” said Levent Pristina, Mayor of Izmir's Buca district.

Pristina added that the seven individuals wounded from the explosion were in good condition.

State-run TRT Haber, as well as private broadcaster Dogan news agency said the explosion was caused by a bomb, which was placed inside a garbage container and exploded when the bus passed by.

No party claimed responsibility of the incident. In the past, Daesh has been known to carry out terrorist attacks as well as well as Kurdish militants.
