Director General of Tourism Promotion Authority Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat said that the joint efforts with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities have reflected positively on the Kingdom's tourism income.

The Kingdom's revenues from tourism rose by 13.5% to 2.5 billion USD (roughly 1.8 billion JD), compared with 2.2 billion dollars for the same period of 2016, which is considered a positive indicator.

Arabiyat told Petra News that the improvement of tourism indicators, according to statistics of the Central Bank, confirms efforts by the Authority to put the Kingdom on the map of world tourism. Arabiyat highlighted the Authority's role in promoting Jordan as a distinct tourist destination, in global markets, despite the economic and political strife affecting the region.

He also noted a number of measures contributing to bolstered tourism, including improved coordination between concerned authorities, larger investment in promoting tourist infrastructure, greater marketing, and strengthening the channels of communication between government and tourism companies.
