Jordan stresses support for Iraq in meeting

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi and Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Jbour met on Thursday, August 10, to discuss boosting bilateral ties and the countries’ joint efforts to defeat terrorism in the region, Petra News Agency reported.

"Jordan has always been keen to support Iraq on the security, development and political domains, Safadi said, adding that this support stems from King Abdullah’s eagerness boost relations between the two countries.

Jbour stressed that Jordan has always stood by Iraq in its war against terrorist groups, emphasising coordination between the parliaments of the two countries in the international arena .

During talks, Safadi also called to re-open the international road between Iraq and Jordan, the Iraqi oil pipeline and support the private sectors in the two countries to further develop trade relations and serve mutual interests.
