The Israeli Occupation arrested 880 Palestinians in July, according to Palestinian human rights’ organisations’ statements to Reuters Arabic.

The website reports that these organisations, which include the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club and Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, added that of those 880, “144 were children and 18 were women”, and that most come from Jerusalem.

They went on to explain that most of the arrests in Jerusalem happened during the protests which lasted almost two weeks last month. They concerned the metal detectors Israel installed at the entrance to Al Aqsa. They were later removed.

They also stated that Israeli prisons now hold up to 6400 prisoners, 450 of whom are administratively detained. 62 are female, including 10 minors, and 300 are children.

Israel regularly resorts to administrative detention, which is detention without trial, for 3-6 renewable months.
