A police sergeant, who was fatally shot on Saturday, has been posthumously promoted to the rank of warrant officer, Petra news agency reported.

Police chief, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Faqih, reportedly ordered the promotion on Monday, after warrant officer, Jafar Rabab’ah was shot dead by a wanted criminal in Maan, south of Amman.

Rabab’ah was with another police officer and a local civilian, when their vehicle was targeted by gunfire on Saturday.

The other two of men suffered gunshot wounds to various parts of their bodies and were treated on the spot, while Rabab’ah was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
