An official at the Amman Municipality said on Monday that new speed radars will begin tentative operation Tuesday. The cameras have been installed on various main streets in the city.

He said this probation period will involve the radars recording car speeds without issuing tickets, and will last somewhere between two weeks and a month. The Municipality will announce the start of their actual use at least a week in advance.

The point of this probation period, he added, was to inform drivers of the location of the radars and ensure their accuracy.

They have been installed on such streets as Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Queen Rania, Yajooz, Airport Road, Jordan Road, and near the American Embassy in Abdoun.
