The Amman Municipality is launching an app for yellow cabs in Amman tomorrow!

The app is supposed to function like other on-demand transportation apps like Uber and Careem, allowing Jordanians to request and follow up on yellow cabs.

According to taxi drivers taking part in protests late last year, their business “declined by 80 per cent” since Uber and Careem drivers started ferrying passengers, with taxi drivers threatening to commit suicide and burn their cars in the middle of the street in protest of Uber and Careem.

Unlike other on-demand transportation services though, the yellow taxi app will be licensed and its users and drivers will be able to use it without hassle, unlike other services which the Jordanian government still refuses to license.
